The Bead Journal Project just became "official!" In my last post, I casually tossed out the idea of committing to a beaded journal page, one per month for a year. Quite a number of you commented, saying "count me in." All right!!!! Let's do it!

After email correspondence with a few of you, I've come up with some guidelines here. As you can see, it's rather loose. The only real rules are that you do one per month and keep your size consistent.

Now let's see how many people we can get on board. I need your help with this. Please tell anyone you think might be interested. The more participants we have, the more support there will be. Also, we'll have more possibilities for exhibition of our work (completely optional for each participant, of course).

I'm asking each participant to email me. Please confirm when you will start (June, if possible!), and give me your contact information. Also please let me know if you're willing for me to add your name and contact information to a public list of the participants. If you have any suggestions about this, feel free to email or comment on this post.

Like Mary, I can hardly wait to get started and totally look forward to whatever will unfold!

    Hi Robin:

  3. To Léonie ~ OK, I'll work on fixing the link. In the meantime, my email is: robinatkins[at]interisland[dot]net. You'll need to substitute @ for [at] and . for [dot]. I hope this means you want to joing the Project!

To Beadbabe ~ Welcome on board! We have 4 official participants so far, and the buzzz is starting to flow about it.

  4. Good news! There are apparently more beady folks who read this blog than I knew... We've already got 7 confirmed, solidly committed women, ready to start their first bead journal page!!!! That's pretty good for a post that's only been up for half a day!

  5. I am so tempted! I think the fall will be a hard time for me so I am trying to work out how I can do the busy months. It's easy to sign up now for now - it's later that I am worried about! So consider me thinking!
    Cheers, Denise

  6. To Denise ~ Yes, that's so true. The busy months are a concern to me as well, especially June and September. I plan to get started earlier than June, so it won't put so much pressure on me that month. The September one? Maybe I'll just finish late on that one. To me, once I've made this committment, I'll find some way to do it, even if I have to make some of them less beaded. If you decide to do it, you won't be the only one having seriously jammed months. The support and encouragement of others will help.

  7. I've already added my name in an email to you Robin. I'm starting as soon as I finish what is going on with the Korry beads right now. I'm not worried about my contact information, its already out there.

  8. For those who are concerned about the busy months, maybe they can make (or start) more than one page in the less busy months. Just because the premise is 12 pages/12 months doesn't mean we can't do 2 pages in one month and none the next! (Of course you won't want to put off too many months!)

  9. Sue, that is a good idea. I had thought that I would sew up the pages before hand - get them all done so they would be ready to bead and then I wouldn't be pressed to get the pages ready. I had thought I could sew 6x6 squares as quilt squares in different colours and then they would be ready for beading on!
    Thanks!

  13. It sounds really cool, and really intense, depending on the amount of beading and the size :) I don't want to commit, but will be watching to see what y'all do, and may play on a month by month basis

  15. There is an article in the most recent (?) Quilting Arts about someone making a journal quilt square a week and then making them into a quilt at the end. I think their website has some of her tips for keeping it up.

    Hello everyone,

A new project???? and for the whole year??? wow wow wow... I'd like to be one of those. My only long-project challenge was the Universe collar and I had so much fun with this one...embroidery for the first time. So I'm ready to test, if Robins accepts my candidacy! I have already ideas... As for you, some months will be harder for me, because of the fairs... But I'll do my best.
